Ask not what your station can do for you...

If you are a student at Shippensburg University, you may be among the chosen ones who wind up on air, on staff, or behind the scenes at WSYC. If you think a career in radio might be in your future, or if you might enjoy a time slot at a college radio station, this is your chance! But even if you don't see yourself at the microphone, there are plenty of other things you can do to help make WSYC the best thing that ever came out of that antenna on top of the Cumberland Union Building.

We need:

  • • On-air talent, producers and assistants
  • • Open staff positions
  • • Newswriters and newscasters
  • • Public relations and business assistance
  • • Open specialty show host positions
  • • Music reviewers
  • • Committee volunteers for PR, business, production, and library staff

What to do:

  • • Visit the personnel page and go from there; or
  • • Talk to Dr. Borrell, our advisor in the Comm/Journ Department; or
  • • E-mail our Human Resources Director or HR Assistant; or
  • • Contact anyone you know on staff for more information; or
  • • Just show up at any general assembly meeting, held at 9:30 p.m. on alternate Tuesdays, and talk to a staffperson before or after the meeting.

If you're not a student...

If you're not a student at Ship, that doesn't mean you can't pitch in and help out around the place.

Listeners:

Hey guys and gals! Thanks for tuning in. For many that's enough, but some of you might want more. College radio can and should be fun. If you're interested in finding out about WSYC in a hands-on sort of way, we occasionally give studio tours and need volunteers for special events. Visit the listeners page for more information.

Industry:

If you're in the music industry, we may be able to help eachother out. Whether you've dealt with WSYC in the past or not, this page might give you some ideas or the information you've come here looking for.

Donors:

WSYC-FM is a non-commercial station, which means we don't have commercials per se, and we don't have a lot of money either. That's why we need donors, usually local businesses, to send a little cha-ching our way in exchange for our on-air thanks. For information on what you get out of the deal, and other ways the community can get involved financially, visit the donors page.

Alumni:

You people know the drill, but in case you've forgotten, there are lots of opportunities to help the station or its membership get ahead in the world. Visit our alumni page for more information.

If you're already a member...

If you're already a member, maybe you'd like to get more involved? The best thing to do is to talk to a staff member and find out where the demand is or pipe up at the general assembly meetings, but if you have some specific talent or interest relevant to the station, then definitely let us know. Talk to us. Current members should check out the members page for info and links tuned especially to them.
